Hi, I'm Kyle Howard.
I'm a multidisciplinary UX designer with a background in filmmaking and motion graphics who specializes in visually compelling user experiences.
As a former video editor and animator in the advertising industry, I used to spend my time sorting through hours of footage and piecing it all together into a slick 30-second commercial. Today, I talk with users and turn those insights into effective digital experiences that are both easy to use and easy on the eye.
View full resumeI empathize with users and understand complex problems by asking the right questions at the right time.
I play the role of “UX editor” throughout the design process, helping companies zero in on what matters most.
I take into account the business goals of the client as well the needs of their users.
I improve usability by writing in a language that users can understand while maintaining the voice of the brand.
I create animations that do more than look cool. My designs tell a story and help users complete the task at hand.
I work closely with my teammates to ensure that every aspect of a product comes together in the end.
Securely storing and sharing all of your family’s important documents in one place sounds like a great idea. When ZokuVault first launched, however, users were overwhelmed and afraid. After observing first-time users and listening to their concerns, we designed a comprehensive onboarding experience to guide them through the product and earn their trust.
Omnipointment started out as a scheduling product for busy college students working on group projects. Finding a time for everyone to meet, however, was just one of many obstacles facing our users. In order to transform Omnipointment into a complete group project solution, we designed an entirely new project management tool.

Parents need to know what’s going in their teenager’s life. School report cards, however, only tell a small part of the story. As part of an ed-tech design challenge, my team and I created Prompt.ed, the first journaling app designed specifically for high school students.
Before I designed products, I told stories for brands. Click here to see some examples of how I used my animation and graphic design skills to bring these stories to life.

Looking to hire? I’m currently available for both full-time and contract opportunities. Just want to chat? I’m always game to grab a drink and geek out on all things design.
